About the Doctors
Jared T. Kanemaru, DDS
Dr. Jared T. Kanemaru was born and raised in the town of Wahiawa, Hawaii. After three years of undergraduate schooling at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, Dr. Jared was accepted early into the Northwestern School of Dental Medicine in Chicago, Illinois. He was awarded membership into Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society upon graduating with his Doctor of Dental Surgery. Being awarded to not more than 12% of the entire class, this award is the highest dental honor a dental student can attain. Upon returning home to the islands in 1975, Dr. Jared joined his father in serving the community through dentistry. Today, he continues to practice with his brothers in a recently renovated, state-of-the-art practice.
Dr. Jared successfully passed and is licensed to practice in the North East Regional and Central United States regions, the State of California and the State of Hawaii. He has been an active member of the American Dental Association and Hawaii Dental Association since 1975, and he is a member of the Honolulu County Dental Association. He continues to challenge himself and is constantly learning new ways to better serve his patients and provide comprehensive dental healthcare by being an active member in the Hawaii Dental Forum, Hawaii Dental Implant Study Club, Seattle Study Club and the Tanaka Study Club. Besides dentistry, Dr. Jared enjoys contributing to the community and is a member of the Wahiawa Community Business Association.
Truly a family endeavor, Dr. Jared’s wife and two of his three daughters work closely with him and his brothers in the dental practice.Dr. Jared’s other daughter is also a dentist and is completing a residency program in Honolulu.
Lester N. Kanemaru, DMD
Dr. Lester N. Kanemaru was born and raised in the town of Wahiawa, Hawaii. After graduating from Indiana University in Indianapolis, Indiana, Dr. Lester attended Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri where he graduated with his Doctor of Dental Medicine. He then returned home to Wahiawa to practice dentistry with his father and brother. Although his father retired a few years ago, Dr. Lester continues to practice with family and enjoys practicing in a recently renovated, state-of-the-art facility with his brothers.
If you do not recognize Dr. Lester from the many years he spent learning and coaching the martial art of judo, you may recognize him from the clubs he is a member of or his active participation in community service. Dr. Lester is a conscientious member of the American Dental Association, Hawaii Dental Association and Honolulu County Dental Association. He is an active member of the Hawaii Dental Forum and Seattle Study Club where he strives to keep up-to-date with the newest technology and latest procedures in order to offer the highest quality of dentistry to his patients.
In addition to dentistry, Dr. Lester is also a licensed Acupuncturist. Dr. Lester is also an active member in the Wahiawa Community Business Association, and you may see him escorting a distinguished member of the community in his award-winning corvette during the town’s annual Veteran’s Day Parade.
Gordon M. Kanemaru, DDS
Dr. Gordon M. Kanemaru was born and raised in the town of Wahiawa, Hawaii. After graduating from the University of San Francisco in San Francisco, California, Dr. Gordon graduated with his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Missouri at Kansas City in Kansas City, Missouri. He then returned home to Hawaii where he entered the family practice with his father and brothers. His father has retired from actively practicing, but Dr. Gordon is still able to practice with his brothers in a recently renovated, state-of-the-art dental facility in Wahiawa, Hawaii.
Dr. Gordon is a member of the American Dental Association, Hawaii Dental Association and Honolulu County Dental Association. He continues to keep up-to-date with the evolving field of dentistry and is an active member of the Hawaii Dental Forum, Seattle Study Club and Excel Study Club.
Dr. Gordon enjoys giving back to the community. He is a University of Missouri at Kansas City Alumni Trustee and is very active in their Hawaii Alumni division. He is a Board of Director on both the Ho’ala School Board and the Wahiawa Hospital Association Board.
When not providing patients with quality dental healthcare, Dr. Gordon might be cruising throughout town on his Harley Davidson, as he is a “HOG” member, or he might be off island fishing for salmon in Alaska!
Jill E. Kanemaru-Hwang, DDS
Dr. Jill E. Kanemaru-Hwang was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, and raised in the town of Wahiawa, Hawaii.Dr. Jill completed her undergraduate studies on the east coast and graduated from Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts.After Harvard, she moved to San Francisco and attended the University of the Pacific Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry where she graduated with honors as a Doctor of Dental Surgery.Upon graduation, Dr. Jill elected to continue her education in general dentistry and completed a year long Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency program in Honolulu, Hawaii.During this year, Dr. Jill worked at the Kokua Kalihi Valley Community Health Center where she completed procedures often done by specialists and attended weekly lectures taught by lecturers across the nation.She is excited to return to Wahiawa and join the family practice.
Dr. Jill has followed in her father, grandfather, and uncles’ footsteps and believes it is essential to continue the learning process.She is a member of the American Dental Association, the Hawaii Dental Association, the Honolulu County Dental Society, and the California Dental Association.Dr. Jill has completed a mini implant residency program and is a member of the Hawaii Dental Graduate Forum which enables young dentists to hone their skills and knowledge.
